The Historic Rockland Church & Cemetery traces its roots back to 1874, beginning as a small community Sunday School held at Rockland School #13. This modest one-room schoolhouse also marked the origins of Ralston Elementary School and once stood near what is now the Genesee Park entrance—an area currently covered by Interstate 70.
In 1878–1879, the Rockland community came together and built the church with donated land, materials, and funds in order to create a space that would serve everyone, regardless of faith. From the beginning, the church was intended to be open and welcoming—a place for weddings, burials, quiet reflection, community support, and peace.
Today, we remain dedicated to preserving this historic site and honoring the spirit of unity and remembrance that inspired its founding.
